Part-Time Bookkeeper / Legal Accounting Assistant

Schedule: Part-Time (Mondays & Wednesdays)

About Us

We are an established and rapidly growing Long Island plaintiff’s personal injury law firm seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Bookkeeper / Legal Accounting Assistant to support our partners and accounting operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping skills who enjoys working in a professional office environment and takes pride in accuracy and organization.

Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will be assisting with plaintiff personal injury settlement accounting, and check preparation. The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, and capable of working independently while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the partners with settlement financial accounting and disbursements.
  • Prepare and process settlement checks payments.
  • Accurately enter financial transactions into QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile bank and trust account transactions as assigned.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable, deposits, and other bookkeeping functions.
  • Work closely with attorneys and administrative staff to ensure accurate settlement accounting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience (law firm experience preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial recordkeeping.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
